Review

This is a nifty tool for file integrity checking - a Windows shell extension that allows your to check the integrity of files via a corresponding .SFV file. It is a lightweight application that integrates itself into your operating system and can be accessed in two ways. First, it can be used from the menu that comes up when you right-click on a file. You can go to Open With and select HashCheck and the main window of the application will pop-up and start analyzing the file against the .SFV file, displaying whether the file is valid or invalid in real time (it does so for each file individually if you select several files). Also, each file will be color-coded in red and green for you to see the results better. The second way of accessing HashCheck is to go to the properties of the file that you want to check. In a tab for HashCheck, you will see the hash of the file you have downloaded and the hash that is included in the .SFV file. If they match, then you have a 100% valid file. You can also use this tool to create hashcheck files from the right-click menu.

This program is one of the easiest ways of checking file integrity that I have seen in Windows. It is fast, it is accurate and best of all, it is intuitive.
Advantages
  • Easy to use and intuitive.
  • Fast and accurate.
Disadvantages
  • None.
